Walsh Steps Down From Legislative Leadership Role
OLYMPIA - Representative Maureen Walsh announced Thursday she will no longer serve as Vice Chair of the House Committee for Early Learning and Children's Services (ELCS).

Walsh, a Republican from the 16th Legislative District, said she thought the move was a good bi-partisan decision.

However, she said members of her own caucus didn't want Democrats appointing Walsh to the leadership role after a "tough election year for Republicans in November."

"I'm not the kind of person who wants people to have hard feelings and I don't have to have a Vice Chair behind by name to still be the lead on the these issues," Walsh said in a phone interview.

Walsh will still serve as a member of the ELCS committee.
