State legislators are back in Olympia for the 2007 legislative session.
Education is shaping up to be the big issue of this legislature, especially among east side representatives.
Like other years, the WASL test will be in the center of it all.
Representative Larry Haler is already in Olympia.
He's planning to introduce a bill that would do away with the WASL completely and use a different test.
But College Place Representative Maureen Walsh isn't so sure about that.
She admits the WASL has problems but doesn't think the legislature should throw it out completely.
Both representatives say education funding will be a large part of putting together the state's budget.
That includes funding for WSU Tri-Cities.
The legislative session starts Monday morning in Olympia.
