PENDLETON - The gas tax in Pendleton started last week, and one downtown station is already feeling the pinch.
Circle “K” is charging '2-93' for a gallon of 'regular unleaded' today. However, if you drive down the road to the casino, gas is 12 cents cheaper. Circle "K" says that station has really pumped the fact that they don't have the tax.
“With the things going on at Wild Horse, they're doing a lot of advertising and working hard at using the gas tax to their advantage which I can't blame them. It's a good business ploy on their part,” said Circle “K” Manager Geoff Holden.
The gas tax is an extra four cents a gallon. It is paying for the new airport road.
