PENDLETON - New information on a drunk driver who killed four-people. John Carlgren pleaded guilty today for the wreck on I-84 in Pendleton last fall.

Carlgren faced vehicular homicide charges but pleaded down to four-counts of first degree manslaughter, and one count of driving drunk.

He was going westbound on I-84 near Cabbage Hill when he hit another car. All four people inside died. This avoids a trial.

“I anticipate the defense will be asking for what they anticipate the sentence should be. There are some tactful advantages to changing the plea and admitting your guilt and sparing the state and the victims a trial. That may be a tactful advantage,” said DA Dean Gushwa.

He'll be sentenced in about three weeks.
