Washington State Patrol says a driver on drugs may be to blame for the death of a baby near Toppenish Friday night.

Officials say the baby was ejected from a truck after a car crossed the center line on State Route 22 and side-swiped the truck. The truck then flipped and rolled, ejecting the baby who officials say was not in a car seat. "This is really a case where you've got to have your kids buckled up. There were too many occupants in the vehicle and all indications show the youngest child was not belted in and riding on the lap of an adult," says Sgt. Devyn Derrick, Washington State Patrol.
WSP says charges against the driver of the car are pending drug test results. If the tests come back positive, he will likely be charged with vehicular homicide.
