School Board Considers Land Deals
COLLEGE PLACE - A school board meeting screeched to a halt when some community members proposed trading, selling or even donating 80 acres of their combined land to help build a new school in College Place.

The School Board originally planned for a $25 million bond to rebuild Sager Meadow Brook schools into a single campus. That campus would house kindergartners through eighth-graders.

Now the board will consider this new land deal which could also offer room for high schoolers. One school official said, the community members created an opportunity the school had to look into.

"A dream could be realized," said College Place Superintendent of Schools, Tim Payne. "They bring forth hope and they bring forth potential and possibilities."

If the school board decides to use the proposed land for the new school, the district could then swap or sell the 30 acres of commercial land where Sager and Meadow Brook reside.

The district says it will listen to others offers for new schools. The board meets again on December 21.
