The mayor tells us it's too early to tell how many jobs will be created from the new road. It's being paid for with the four cent gas tax voters just approved. More industrial companies are expected to go in on the new Airport Road.
"This is a road and an area that we've talked about for industrial development for almost 40 years. So people know and understand it's something that was needed. I think there is really some great opportunities and we've had quite a bit of interest already," said Pendleton Mayor Phillip Houk.
The city says the timing is good with the recent closing of the Fleetwood plant. Work on the new road should be done by the fall.
