Residential Burglaries Up 62% In Kennewick

Burglaries are up 62% this year according to a report issued by the Kennewick Police. Target crimes which, include auto theft and break-ins, and both businesses and homes burglaries are up 7%.
Police said people are just to comfortable. Too many people are leaving their homes and cars unlocked.
Sgt. Ken Lattin of the KPD urged people to follow a simple bit of advice. "When you leave it lock it!" Lattin also said his 'Criminal Apprehension Team' is understaffed, but as soon as more officers arrive from the police academy those crime numbers should go down.
