EXCLUSIVE: Baby Cut from Mother's Womb Comes Home

By Rudabeh Shahbazi

PASCO-- The baby boy cut from his mother's womb before she was stabbed to death, is finally home from the hospital with his family.

Salvador Campos was teetering on the edge of survival at a Spokane hospital for six weeks. Now his father and siblings are getting to know him.

Doctors say he suffered brain damage when he was deprived of oxygen, and he may never be able to walk. They can only wait to see the other effects of his premature birth.

Campos told Action News he is grateful to live in such a supportive community. Since his wife's murder, friends and strangers have held fundraisers for the family.

Phiengchai Sisouvanh Synhavong is the woman accused of murdering Salvador's mother, Araceli Camacho Gomez, and trying to pass the baby off as her own.

Synhavong waived her right to a speedy trial earlier this month. Her trial is now set for March. If convicted, she could face the death penalty.
