PASCO -- It's almost a little crazy that some drivers think $4.06 for regular unleaded is a bargain. But these days, it is, and they're scrambling to get a gallon.

"That's a fabulous price!," driver Sonya Austin said.

The Tesoro station at the corner of Lewis and 10th in Pasco is charging the lowest price in months.

"I spotted the sign and says 'wow! I'm going to get some gas!" Austin said.

The owner of the station didn't want to go on camera but said he lowered his prices to help out the customers. His station hasn't seen any of the profits, but it's about a 20 cent savings per gallon compared to other stations around town.

"I think it's a great relief for everybody in the region for $4.06 to come through," diesel driver Ray Benavides said. "I think a 20 cents-saving a gallon is a big deal. And I think a lot of people are going to be happy about that."

Down the street on 10th and A, the Spirit gas station sported the same price $4.06.

And it was even busier, boasting a line that five, six, seven cars deep.

"You can't beat $4.06," driver Sandy Meier said. She waited for a while to get gas at Spirit.

"How much longer would you wait?" we asked.

"Five minutes, probably five minutes," Meier said.

We went inside to talk to the owner but ...

"I don't have time, busy time, sorry!" Spirit manager Joe said.

Joe was so slammed he could barely talk to us. We were curious about his lower prices.

"What do you mean? Low is low! Do you want that raised up? Low is good!" he told Action News.

In the end, Joe said lower prices are to help out customers too.

And at a time when people are leaving their cars at home, rearranging their commutes, and planning "stay-cations", even 20 cents a gallon can make a difference.

"I want to see the gallon go down below four again...someplace, please!" Meier said.

Although the owners of Tesoro and spirit are not seeing many profits from the lower prices, the good news for you is, you can expect the lower prices to stick around.

Turns out, Pasco's certainly got an edge over everyone else in town.

We looked around the area for the best deals if you don't want to drive to downtown Pasco.

The next closest price is $4.08 at Columbia Grocer's Corner in West Pasco off Road 64 in Pasco.

Most Richland and Kennewick stations are charging about a nickel more.

The cheapest place in Richland is $4.13 at the Conoco on George Washington way near Jadwin.

The Kennewick Costco has gas for $4.14 but you need a membership for that one.
