Mt. Adams -- There's a fire burning a little more than a mile away from Mount Adams.

Officials from the Gifford Pinchot National Forest tell Action News more than 500 acres are burning.

Three tankers and two helicopters are on the scene with firefighters trying to put it out.

It was started by lightning from last week, fire crews tell us they think was just sitting smoldering and has now grown with warmer weather conditions.
