PASCO -- A Community is shell shocked, as a murder investigation revealed a woman was killed and her baby cut from her womb.

This bizarre and gruesome story is making national headlines.

And the people closest to the family remain distraught.

Family friends said the victim, Araceli Camacho Gomez's, two little kids are confused and looking for their mom.

While the father and fiance left behind, Juan Campos Felipe, is just back from the Spokane hospital where he's been sitting by his baby's side.

Juan Campos Felipe briefly spoke to Action News over the phone Tuesday.

We asked the questions while a family friend translated.

We chose to keep the translator's identity private.

Our first question was about his Juan's baby.

"He doesn't know how the baby's doing," said the interpreter.

Juan was unclear, claiming doctors didn't tell him about the condition of his son.

So we asked if he knew about Araceli's encounter with the "Asian" lady at the bus stop.

He said no.

And it was all we could ask before Campos Felipe said he couldn't go on.

"He really, he's just really sad about everything," she said.

But the strange encounter at the bus stop had my translator asking questions.

She saw Araceli Camacho Gomez on the bus just one day before she went missing.

"She didn't look fine," she said. "I looked and her and smiled at and she... So probably by then should could've talked to the (Asian) lady or something."

Did she have a feeling something was wrong?

"Yes, usually she smiles and stuff," she said.

To these friends, there's no clear explanation.

They said Araceli moved to Pasco a few months ago, happy, two weeks from delivering a baby boy, and about to get married.

"They were waiting until the baby was born to get married," the family friend said. "(They moved here) to have a better life."

BABY'S CONDITION

At the center of all of this is a little baby boy.

The baby is being treated in Spokane at the Deconess hospital.

As of Tuesday afternoon, we found out the baby boy was still in critical condition.

Hospital officials aren't releasing any other information.

They are citing privacy laws.
