KENNEWICK-- The coroner and police are not releasing details about Saturday's homicide in Columbia Park, so Action News went straight to the suspect's family.
Those family members declined to go on camera, but told Action News 23-year-old Phiengchai Sisouvanh had been telling them she was pregnant.
They said she worked with senior citizens and knew the victim, her friend, from work. Police have not released the identity of that 28-year-old victim, and Sisouvanh's family said they had never met her.
Family members told Action News Sisouvanh had spoken to her spiritual leader shortly before the alleged murder, and that he and the family thought she might be possessed because of her strange behavior.
They said she lives in Kennewick, and is married with a baby, although they do not know where her husband is.
Her family members said she stabbed her friend to death, and then showed up at Kennewick General Hospital with a baby, claiming it was hers.
They said she confessed to the crime at the hospital. It was not clear if the baby had been born before the victim was killed.
Police have not confirmed any of this information, but they said they plan to hold a press conference to release the details as soon as possible, probably Monday.
They did confirm that the 23-year-old is in jail, on hold for a first degree murder charge. Police said they do not believe anyone else was involved in the crime, and that they are not looking for other suspects.
