Sunnyside Senior Project Helping Students In Peru

Yakima -- It's more than just fulfilling his high school graduation requirement Adrian's working on a project he's now made a personal mission.
Adrian Chacon, helping students in Peru says, "The mother's hugging their babies and stuff like that, people dead on the streets that's what really moved me to do this senior project." He's putting together bags filled with school supplies. Everything from notebooks, pencils, pens, sharpeners, scissors and erasers. After watching images like these on the TV of the earthquake in Peru last year, he wanted to help out. Sade Malloy, Action News says, "He made all the baskets with money he made right here behind this counter at the McDonald's in Sunnyside." Adrian spent over $200 on materials to put together 15 bags and used his paychecks to pay for it. But besides being helpful, he's also modest. Julie Montelongo, Adrian's Boss says, "He kept it to himself it wasn't something that he brags about obviously 'cause I didn't even know." Adrian says his senior project was never about him the amount of money or time he spent doing it. Adrian Chacon, helping students in Peru says, "It makes me feel good inside doing humanitarian work." |
