New Pasco Schools on Hold
PASCO—KEPR Action News has learned the Pasco School District has 700 more students this year, than last year and it has two schools in the works. But construction can’t start until the district lowers its debt capacity and puts a bond on the ballot.

The land bought by the district would bring a new elementary to Road 60 and Sandifur, and bring a middle school nearby to Road 52.

Parents like Connie Mendoza say they would like to see it happen soon.

“Within the two years, I’ve seen this side just expand, it's just blown up. With the new school going in, I think it's a great idea. They need to hurry up and get it done because there's just too many kids."

The Pasco School District says it's tough to keep up with all the growth when it's "property poor”. It says it needs more commercial and industrial businesses in its tax base.
