Richland Plans for New City Hall
RICHLAND—The City of Richland plans to start building a new city hall in the next five-years. But first it needs to figure out where and how.

The prevailing idea is to work out a deal with the feds and get the parking lot next to the federal building for free. The city says there is a program that allows for that and the money from selling the old building would pay to build a new one.

Joe Schiessl with the City of Richland it's all part of a larger vision.

"The parking lot we're standing in now is grossly underused. So one of the city's strategies to revitalize town is to look at these parking lots that are oversized as in-fill opportunities, so we can place buildings on these parking lots that are too big,” said Schiessl

Richland says a new city hall will pave the way for a revamped downtown with condos and shops within walking distance.
