Kuehny suffered burns on 20-percent of his body, including his neck, ears and hand.
Officer Kuehny was hurt last week while off-duty at home working on his car.
A fire started in the engine and burned him.
But fellow officers who spoke over speaker phone say he sounded in good spirits.
Action News also found out there's a way you can help the family.
US Bank has opened an account for anyone wishing to donate to the Kuehny family.
