KENNEWICK -- A Kennewick police officer severely burned while off-duty is now showing signs of improvement. Action News has learned officer Dale Kuehny is listed in serious condition at a Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Kuehny suffered burns on 20-percent of his body, including his neck, ears and hand.

Officer Kuehny was hurt last week while off-duty at home working on his car.

A fire started in the engine and burned him.

But fellow officers who spoke over speaker phone say he sounded in good spirits.
