Yoke's worker honored for saving boy's life
A Yoke's worker knew he couldn't wait for an ambulance when he saw a boy choking in the store. The West Richland man jumped into action.

Dave Slackman was honored by the West Richland Fire Department.
He received a meritorious award for civic service.

"I hit him on the back a couple of times and still nothing. And then someone said, 'give him the Heimlich. So okay. So I grabbed him around the stomach, gave him a couple of quick jolts to the stomach and then he threw the candy up into the bag," Slackman says.

Slackman says he doesn't feel like a hero. He told us he was just doing what any good community member would do.
