Trashy houses still a problem in Tri-Cities
TRI-CITIES, Wash. - Messy yards, trashy driveways, even overgrown weeds are still a problem around the Tri-Cities.

The amount of complaints registered so far this year are proof.

Code complaints in Richland keep adding up. There have been 270 so far this year. That's despite the city being short on code enforcement officers.

Kennewick has a little under 250 code complaints.

Roughly half of what Pasco has. Complaints are up to 600 so far this year. Pasco hired an extra officer this year.

A big plus for neighbors, who already take pride in their community.

Neighbor Alfredo Jurado, "To me, it's real important to have all the front yards clean, it's nice because sometimes when you clean, the other neighbors start cleaning."

Police often say cleaner, well-kept neighborhoods help keep crime away.
