Target and Salvation Army team up to help needy families
RICHLAND, Wash. -- 25 local kids and their families geared up for school with help from the Salvation Army.

The kids visited the Target in Richland. Each student received an 80-dollar gift card. They were paired with a chaperon who helped pick out supplies. The kids and their families were very thankful for the program.

“I came and I didn't know what I was gonna do, so I was like, I have to pay for this? And they said no and so did my mom and I just came and had fun and I got some stuff,” says Jacob Williams, one of the students.

Another family also expressed their gratitude:

“It's a big help. We live on one income and it's disability, so three kids with one income --every help we can get is nice,” says Ben Patrick, who was there was his family.

Around 500 Target stores nationwide have participated in the event over the last month.
