Scantling sentenced to life
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- Convicted killer Grant Scantling was back in court for the last time this morning.

Scantling was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Prosecutor Andy Miller opened the hearing by reading an email from family members of Frank Palmer. The mother of Scantling's children also sent an email saying she was at peace with everything that happened.

Miller says he's glad justice was served.

“The great thing is if we could go back and have a trail where the verdict was if Mr. Palmer was still alive, but we can't do that, so a lot of sadness today. But the defendant was held accountable for his actions,” he says.

Scantling was also ordered to pay more than five-thousand dollars in restitution. He will be allowed to appeal the sentence.
