PROSSER, Wash. - Prosser is ready to re-do the Old Inland Empire Highway.

Over $2.5 million dollars in state funds will give them a good start.

A total re-construction of the highway from the western city limits to Wine Country Road will start this summer.

It's the first phase of the improvement plan.

The road will be wider, adding new lanes. Sidewalks are also part of the plans.

Improved street lighting and pavement markings will help make the road safer.

The second phase, extending to Grant Road will begin in 2015.
