KENNEWICK -- Motorists traveling Columbia Drive are seeing some new banners going up on the strip.

The approximately 30 banners began going up about three weeks ago and cost around 10 thousand bucks. However, the banners came at no cost to the city.

The funds were made available by the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership, which operates on donations from business owners and business occupation taxes.

Most store owners are happy with the improvements to the downtown area. Anne Craff is one of them.

"We love to see our tax dollars at work here in the Tri-Cities. I'd rather not see them go anywhere else. It's sort of like being able to visit your money," she says.

The partnership hopes the banners will be a small step toward their bigger plans of revitalizing the downtown area.
