PASCO, Wash. - A ground-breaking ceremony today marked the beginning of the 1.2 million dollar project to bring a new planetarium and multi-media center to campus.

Over half the funding came from the state's minor improvement program for college campuses.

Another 100 thousand dollars came from Bechtel National, which says the facility is part of the future of education.

"We know the country's in hard economic times so private industry has to step up to assist in that. If we don't do that we lose our competitive edge," said Frank Russo, program director at Bechtel National.

The new building will also host community activities and events. We're also told it will have IMAX capabilities. The grand opening is set for October.
