New Yoke's latest victim of Government shutdown

New Yoke's latest victim of Government shutdown
RICHLAND, Wash. -- Some customers may be surprised to find the new Yoke's in south Richland isn't accepting WIC or food stamps.

It's a temporary thing.

The new location is unable to process WIC checks or EBT cards. Normally, a new grocery store has to go through a waiting period to get approved to take government assistance.

But it will take even longer to accept them at the new Yoke's.

Because of the government shutdown, the store application was caught up just before getting approved. Store managers say they plan to take these checks for payment -- and hope to start accepting them shortly after the shutdown ends.
