Neighbors shocked young girl was groped on their street
UPDATE: As of Mar. 3, Kennewick police say the girl who claimed she was groped admitted to making the story up.

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick police say a stranger groped a young girl as she walked to school Tuesday. The 11-year-old says he then threatened to kill her and her family if she told anyone.

Police tell us the grabbing happened on Garfield Street between 16th and 19th Avenues. The girl was headed to Park Middle School.

KEPR met a neighbor with surveillance video of Garfield. We watched it with him and saw one girl walking to school during that time, but never saw a man.

"It's a very populated street, there's a lot of traffic, there's a retired police officer that lives just two houses down. Kennewick Police are up and down the street 10, 15 times a day, you just wouldn't expect it," said the neighbor, Matt Taylor.

There's only a vague description of the man police are looking for.
