PASCO, Wash. - State patrol reports a big rig without a trailer attached ran the red light at Oregon Avenue and A Street.

A car passenger was rescued quickly but it took more than 15 minutes to cut the driver out using the jaws of life.

The 60-year old was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Witnesses were surprised no one was killed instantly.

William Quinn told KEPR, "After he got hit I opened the door to make sure, they weren't breathing too well, either one of them and luckily the ambulance got here in about 10 minutes and took care of them."

The driver of the rig is from Kansas. He walked away unhurt but could face charges for running the light.
