Low gas prices, more holiday drivers in Tri-Cities
TRI-CITIES, Wash. -- Nationwide -- fewer drivers are expected to be on the roads for Thanksgiving this year.

But that's not what's expected for our region. Troopers credit cheaper gas prices.

Here in the Tri-Cities, you're paying the lowest prices of any metro area in the state -- according to AAA.

Our average fill-up is 3.23 a gallon.

It's about a dime more in Seattle and Spokane if you're headed there.

You can expect extra troopers on the road beginning the day before Thanksgiving.

WSP says it's not the increased drivers that worry them -- it's the weather.

"Give yourself enough time. We don't know what the weather is going to be like. Look at the weather before you go and keep an eye on it before you go out. Increase your following distance and make sure you have good tires," says Lt. Dale Retzlaff.

National surveys estimate around 43.3 million drivers will be out next week.
