KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick Police celebrated a milestone today with the swearing in of their newest patrol officer.

Chief Ken Hohenberg swore in Brooke Zimmerman this morning.

And with the addition of Zimmerman, KPD will be at full authorized force.

Zimmerman's badge was pinned by her father.

She says she's excited to begin her career in Kennewick.

"I'm very passionate about law enforcement and about youth services and making people aware so you can prevent future crime in the area. And it seems like with the schools and the level of the police department right now, that goal is definitely being pushed through," she says.

The department now has 93 commissioned officers--the most in the history of the department.

Zimmerman is the fifth officer sworn in this year.
