WEST RICHLAND, Wash. -- A suspicious fire in West Richland tore through a restaurant and sent a column of black smoke into the air.

Crews from Benton County Fire District Four, Richland Fire, and the Hanford Fire Department responded to the blaze at the Thai City Restaurant on West Van Giesen Street.

Shop owners who share the building with the restaurant could only stand by while the flames threatened their stores.

"I had clients coming in this morning and I had to rush down here so that I could make sure that they're notified that there obviously isn't going to be any massages today!" says Gail Wagner, a spa owner who shares the building with the restaurant.

There is still no word on the cause of the fire, but firefighters are calling it suspicious.

Estimates put the damage around $100,000.

No injuries were reported.
