KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Hundreds of local fifth-graders are getting the chance to see what it's like to be farmers.

The yearly Farm Fair began today at the Benton Franklin Fairgrounds. Kids got the chance to milk a fake cow, sit in a tractor and play with a rooster. Officials tell us the goal is to get kids interested in agriculture.

"We seem to be losing some of the information about why we're important for the economy and important for job growth," said Lori Hayles.

The Farm Fair will go on through Wednesday. More than 1,200 students in all will make the trek to the fairgrounds.
