BENTON CITY, Wash. -- KEPR is continuing to follow up on an abused horse found along the side of the road in Benton City. She now has a name and she's doing much better.

Kay Zirkel is calling her "Miracle". She was found standing along S.R. 225. Troopers think she'd been dumped there. The horse was starved and dehydrated. A vet was surprised "Miracle's" vital organs were all functioning. The animal still needs to gain 200 pounds before her damaged hooves and feet can be repaired.

Kay is taking care of the horse but still hopes to find her a permanent home. She appreciates the many contributions she has received so far.
