Cutting edge technology for Kennewick Fire Department
KENNEWICK, Wash. - It now has a loading system that can lift a person weighing up to 900 pounds.

Once the stretcher is loaded it can be lifted by the touch of the button. This lowers the risk of falls for the patient. EMTs will benefit the most.

They respond to nearly 8000 calls a year and the loading and unloading of people is physically taxing.

Battalion chief Vince Beasley said, "This prevents injuries, shoulders, back, which attributes to about two-thirds of our injuries, with the heavier weights, it takes a toll on the body."

Kennewick is the first in the state to have this technology. The department will get a second lift later this month.
