BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- A Benton City man admitted he helped kill a man. Noel Gonzalez pleaded guilty to second degree murder.

He admits to stabbing Michael Edwards to death last fall. The 55-year old was found dead outside his home in Benton City with dozens of stab wounds. Gonzalez once faced first degree murder charges before making the plea deal.

"My client always maintained what his role in this whole tragic event was. He had no interest in dragging anyone through a trial. It was just a matter of trying to find a resolution that was fair to both the victim's family and to my client based on what he actually did in the case," said Defense Attorney, Scott Johnson.

Prosecutors are recommending 13 years in prison. Sentencing is next week.
