Barrel racing shoot-out
KENNEWICK -- It was a great weekend for horse lovers. Droves of people descended on the Benton County Fairgrounds for the 46th annual Speed Horse shoot out. The traditional barrel races featured over 200 riders from novice all the way to veteran. Event Coordinators say the sport is unlike others because it is judged by computer:

“It's not judged, it's fastest horse wins. So, it's really a true athletic sport. There's no judging, there's no opinions, it's all based on the clock,” says event organizer Jackie Gudmundson.

Riders competed for more than five-hundred dollars in winning purses. This event is one of a series put on by the Washington Barrel Racing association. They hold events all over the Pacific Northwest all year round.
