BENTON COUNTY, Wash. - Action News continues to follow-up on the recent murder in Kennewick.

Accused killer Grant Scantling appeared in court today.

Prosecutor Andy Miller will decide by the end of the month whether to seek the death penalty in this case.

Scantling was assigned a death-penalty lawyer just in case.

If the death penalty doesn't apply, Scantling could face life in prison without parole.

The trial date is set for mid-May but is likely to be delayed.
