KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kai Phengsavanh's daughter died of a health condition earlier this year so she never got to shop with her.
Jessica's mom applied for the prize after watching our newscast. The first grader from Pasco shopped for clothes, got her ears pierced and received a total makeover just in time for her back to school photo session.
For Kai, the day was just as special.
"I wanted to do this shopping trip because my daughter who just recently passed away. I didn't get to experience this with her," she said.
It was Jessica's first trip to the Columbia Center Mall. Kai plans to keep in touch with the child. She goes to the same school as Kai's other children.
