Super Sunscreens
By Heather Reese
Consumer Reports tested 10 sunscreens. They applied it people's skin, waited 15 minutes, then exposed the skin to UVB and UVA radiation
All of the sunscreens offered good protection against UVB, otherwise known as SPF. However, after sitting in water, nearly all the sunscreens lost a little UVB protection. "You want to remember to reapply sunscreen after you swim or work up a sweat, and as a general rule every two hours, " said Jamie Hirsh of Consumer Reports. Banana Boat Kids' Tear Free with SPF 50 only did so-so in testing, but Coppertone's Water Babies did very well. If you prefer spray, save money by getting Target's Up and Up Sport Sunscreen Continuous Spray with SPF 30. |
