Ken's E-mails: Neighbors heard loud and clear

SEATTLE -- I could probably hear them yell over the roar of jet engines.

The e-mails I got from people who didn't like my take on the noise lawsuit filed by residents who live in the area around Sea-Tac airport all but screamed out of the computer at me.

I just figured that anyone buying a house by an airport should have realized they'd have to put up with the din of airplanes taking off and landing.

Raymond Wold writes: "They just didn't add the 3rd runway. They moved the flight path as well...I don't understand how you say we should not have complained."

James Tomisser: "I was...angered by your callous...nasty commentary...Before the new runway air traffic passed over us two blocks...West...(now it) passes directly over our house and the noise level has increased exponentially..."

Steve Henigson: "...The airport has reneged on its promise and the 3rd runway is in constant, noisy use...The airport owes residents some form of redress and they (certainly) deserve...better than a "Schrammie."

And finally, from Sally Mejia: "...Please don't make us out to be dummies...We had the same dream...to own a home and this was our compromise."

I understand that sally.

I just don't hold that taxpayers should be coughing up money because your compromise was more than what you anticipated.

Thanks for writing everyone.

Take care.
