SEATTLE -- She's said to have called him white trash.

He's said to have verbally challenged her intellect by calling her a dumb blonde.

At some point she's said to have grabbed his face.

And so we have a 41-year-old woman charged with assaulting a 12-year-old boy.

Welcome to little league, Kirkland style.

In the world of every kid gets a trophy, the trauma of being taunted by one's peers is not supposed to be tolerated.

Coaches are supposed to intervene. Parents are supposed to show restraint. Youthful players are supposed to be mature.

Sometimes it all falls apart at the seams.

Sometimes it comes down to some lippy kid being a typically snotty 12-year-old going up against a 41-year-old mommy creating a kerfuffle because the boy she gave birth to has his athletic abilities called into question.

Were I to be appointed king of little league, I would not hesitate to make the following decree: Drop your child off before the game; pick your child up after the game; no parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or cousins allowed during the game.

Let the kids play.

Let the kids taunt.

And you only get a trophy if your team wins it all.
