Schrammie: Recognizing a spiteful effort
By Ken Schram
SEATTLE -- Even some Christian conservatives don't have the stomach for this fight. But that's of no matter to those who truly fear and loathe the advance of gay rights.
So I’d like to invite Larry Stickney, president of the Washington Values Alliance, to quit thumping his Bible and come on down. (image) Larry’s leading the charge to overturn the "everything but marriage" bill recently passed by the legislature and awaiting the governor's signature. He now faces the daunting task of gathering more than 120,000 valid voter signatures to put his turn-back-the-clock measure on the November ballot. Larry may be leading the charge, but few of his fellow Christian conservatives are following. But that isn't stopping Larry from forging ahead. I imagine he still sees himself as being on a mission from God. I don't believe Larry’s zealous inhumanity will enjoy any degree of success, but do believe that his spiteful effort should be recognized in some small way. So Larry, take a bow because this “Schrammie” is for you. Have something to say to Ken? Login or signup below to post a comment. Just be sure to read the rules and keep things civil.
