Ken Schram: They should have known better
SEATTLE -- I don't get it.

You buy or build a house near Sea-Tac Airport then turn around and complain about the noise.

Some 200 people hob-nobbed with lawyers over the weekend to go over complaints about Sea-Tac's new third runway.

Yeah, that would be the same runway that residents living near the airport have battled for almost 20 years now.

The third runway began operations last fall.

Neighbors say they were told it would only be used sporadically, mostly during bad weather.

But because of repairs to an older runway the newer strip is temporarily being used for all incoming flights.

That leaves folks living below the flight path whining and threatening court action.

Give. Me. A. Break.

By no stretch of anyone's imagination am I a Port of Seattle fan, but the point here is that complaining homeowners probably got a sweet deal on a house that close to the airport.

They knew Sea-Tac was there.

They knew the third runway was coming.

If they wanted tranquility they should have bought a house in Twisp.

Now they've gotten themselves a bevy of hotshot lawyers who will earn fat fees in a hopeless court fight that'll also cost us taxpayers money.

Like I said, I just don't get it.
