Summary

My idea about putting the state income tax into play was met with quite a bit of disagreement.

Ken's E-mails: Down with the state income tax!
SEATTLE -- A surprising number of people agreed with my idea surrounding putting a state income tax into play.

Not so surprising: Most people who emailed me did not agree.

Ron Rykowski writes: "If Washington passes an income tax, it will only grow every time the budget gets a little tight...the fact that our state has no income tax is one of the great things about Washington."

Dick Jones: "An income tax (would mean) that those people who make more money will pay more taxes...Why should (they) have to pay a higher tax than scofflaws who just get by?"

Linda L. Everett: "I am a lifelong Washington resident...Creating a state income tax and a bureaucracy to collect it is a recipe for disaster...I would fight an income tax to my last breath."

Barbara Morris: "I say stop with the new tax and deal with taxes you have and be responsible."

Dick Hardenbrook: "Ken...are you are so trusting of the crooks in Olympia to actually let them levy a state income tax...no, no, no. Forever no."

Rob Hill: "Did you even consider the whole bureaucratic mess and waste of money...that would have to be created as a result of this grand plan?"

And finally, from John Werdel, a very succinctly worded missive: "You are an idiot."

OK.

Thanks for writing everyone.

Have a great weekend.
