Michael Spears comes to Yakima from Seattle and is excited to start his career in his home state.

His interest in journalism began early in high school as a writer for the school newspaper and eventually as copy editor for his high school’s yearbook. This interest later grew as he became responsible for presenting the school’s announcements on-camera and inspired him to study journalism in college.

Michael graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Sociology. During his time as a ‘Cane, Michael took full advantage of the opportunities at the campus TV station, UMTV, working both in-front and behind the camera.

As an undergraduate, Michael interned locally at NBC in Miami and also on the network level at CBS News in New York City. His experience in New York cemented his desire to one day become a network correspondent.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys being outdoors, reading, and exercising. He also loves traveling and visiting new places. Michael is excited to be living in Yakima and would like to meet as many people in the community as possible.
