Yakima hiker rescued after 12 hours on Snoqualmie Mountain
KING COUNTY, Wash. - Search and rescuers who air-lifted an injured hiker from Yakima out of Alpental say an iPhone app likely saved his life.

His injuries kept him trapped overnight for nearly 12 hours as reported by KIRO in Seattle.

Their report said the unidentified hiker was trapped in terrain not accessible by foot. He was found alert but taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Volunteers searched for over 10 hours through the night to find him. They were able to get to within 100 feet of him thanks to his wife. She accessed the man's "Find My iPhone" app.

She sent a screen shot of his approximate location to rescuers. They were able to match it to a Google Earth image of the actual mountain.

The man also flashed his head lamp like a strobe light to get the attention of rescuers.
