RICHLAND, Wash. - It was a great day for a soapbox derby race. Thanks to The Arc of Tri-Cities children with special needs had their turn behind the wheel.

Racing style cars were launched off a starting gate, racing down Lee Blvd in Richland.

Once at the bottom of the hill, the kids were towed back up for more racing fun.

Racing fans and volunteers alike say they wouldn't miss this very special event.

Volunteer Sue Shrode said, 'It's the kids. i love to see kids happy when the little kids come down there smiling, it makes my day.

We spoke to race winner Aidan Smith asking him if he would you race again. He excitedly said, yeah! We asked him how it felt to be a two-time race winner. He said, good!

This is the third year the race was held.
