KENNEWICK, Wash. - Dramatic rescue drills were held on the Cable Bridge Wednesday. This is the first time this type of drill has been done.

A Kennewick Firefighter was suspended from the bridge, simulating a WSDOT worker being trapped or injured.

The Sheriff's Department had their boat below to practice their role in the rescue.

An accident has never happened before so this is a 'just in case' situation.

Kennewick Fire Captain Tod Kruetz said, "We have done some work within the towers, there's actually a ladder that goes all the way to the top. The guys on our team love this stuff so they're pretty excited. Hopefully it doesn't occur but if it does we'll be well prepared."

More tactical exercises are planned for the future.
