PASCO, Wash. -- Pasco has new boundaries in place on the west side of the district. Now the task of shuffling students begins.

Students from the new Madison Park neighborhood off Road 44 and north of Burden Boulevard will go to Franklin Elementary when it opens in the fall.

Parents can file to keep their kid at a current school instead.

A lottery will be held for those students that want to 'opt in' and go to the new schools.

Administrators tell us teaming up with parents was key in the decision making process.

Assistant superintendent John Morgan said, "Yes, we could write a boundary up and say here it is, but that isn't going to help the district. Invite the community in, let them get involved, get their best suggestions and see how it works."

The district will go through this same process when Marie Curie Elementary opens next year.
