Serious accident near Wallula Junction shuts down highway
WALLA WALLA COUNTY, Wash. -- Washington State Patrol says three people were injured following a serious crash on US-12 near Wallula Junction Sunday afternoon.

It happened just before 11 a.m. Troopers say a vehicle driven by James Menoske, 53, of Seattle failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling in the eastbound lane, hitting another car.

The driver, Isabel Hilbert, 69, and her passenger, Walter Lindsey, 76, both from Lewiston, Idaho were injured. Hilbert was driven to Richland for treatment, while Lindsey went by ambulance to the hospital.

Menoske was unhurt but his passenger, Kevin Julius, 47, of Seattle was also taken to the hospital by ambulance.

All four were wearing their seat belts. Troopers say no drugs or alcohol were involved.

Menoske will be charged with failure to yield.
