RICHLAND, Wash. - Richland city employees are all about giving this Christmas season.

They adopted half of the foster kids in the Tri-Cities -- bringing them gifts they may not have received otherwise.

Workers collected toys for a few weeks. They have a friendly rivalry with employees in Franklin County.

Thanks to that competition, more than 200 kids will receive presents on Christmas morning.

Trisha Herron with Richland said, "When you talk about children that don't have families and your giving them a gift. the gift is more than just a monetary or of anything like that. it's just that someone cared enough to go out and spend that extra time."

The gifts are given to the guardian ad litem program.
